Going Bonkers, in Lewisville Texas, is a great place to take the kids. If you are looking for the ultimate in door playground on a budget look no further than Going Bonkers.
Playground:
This playground boasts of a roughly three stories tall (or larger) soft netted playground. There are five levels of tunnels, corridors, obstacles, slides, a zip line, and more. There is even a separated area just for the 3 and under so than can safely enjoy as well without being knocked over by the big kids.
The netted playground is open so that you can track your young one at all times. Unlike those plastic tubes you find at other playgrounds this one is open due to its net, straps and bungee cord design. Not only will you not lose the kids they also won't come out as sweaty from the lack of air in those other places tubes.
Any weather! The entire thing is indoors as well, so perfect for any weather. From the sweltering 110 degree summers to the frigid 20 degree winters, rain or shine, this is the place to play.
Arcade:
There is also an arcade akin to a small Chuck E Cheese or something similar. You can earn tickets to use at the prize booth. You can just enjoy the games. Unlike Chuck E Cheese the games do cost around 1-4 quarters each. They have my favorite the Skee Ball machines, they also have dance dance revolution and motorcycle racing. They also have one of my kids favorite table air hockey.
Money:
Entry for Kids is between $2.50-$5.00 and Adults are only $1... they know it's really for the kids. Two kids (4 and 6) and two parents can get in, before food, for $11 dollars and play for hours. For Hours and Prices Click Here.
Food:
Do not bring outside food in. They have their own cafeteria. Prices are reasonable but not cheap. In this sense think of it as theme park food. You pay a little more, quality isn't supper high, but you are there for the experience. On a tight budget I'd suggest eating before you go, however if you have a little extra to spend just go ahead and eat there. It's part of the fun.
Safety:
They stamp your arms with a number as you come in, revealed by black-light, so that they can ensure you are leaving as you came.
Adults:
So, ok, my kids need fun... what about me? Well there are few things for you too.
ANY age! One neat thing about this playground is that parents are not told to keep out! Anyone from 2-102 can come in and play... unless of course you belly gets in your way like it did mine, then you might go panting for the nearest exit after you pry yourself from the kids! If your up to it it's actually quite fun to be a kid again, climbing all around this labyrinth of a playground. There are even two spots you can lay down in a hammock like contraption and take a break!
Food. If you are a father, you'll enjoy, pizza, hamburgers, etc etc... and they can sell soda by the pitcher!
WiFi. They have free WiFi in the building, just as an attendant for the security code to use it. Bring your lap top, catch up on movies, games, work... etc. I started working on this website at Bonkers myself.
Adult Rest Area. You have older kids, old enough to be left a little on their own. You need a rest. This particular time of day is too noisy, you've had a rough day, you and a friend came here to talk... There is an adult only lounge on the second floor by the arcade.
Birthdays and Parties: Bring the whole party to bonkers! They have have rooms dedicated just for parties, they can be decorated. They have a marquee with the birthday boy's/girl's name right on it. They have carts at the front for families to place the gifts on for later. They even announce the parties events as they come. For example: "Kristy Party...come to the room it's time for cake and ice cream!" It's a great deal. Call for pricing.
Conclusion:
We live in Haslet and we have several times taken the journey to get out to bonkers just because every other playground really does fall short. I suggest you come and try it for yourself.
